Established in 1995, the ‘Vidya Nivas School’ in Kotturpuram boasted of many success stories - stories of catering to the education of around 200 day school children, night schools for the elderly, needy children's education programme, adult literacy programmes, medical camps, youth and women empowerment programmes.

But in the year 2006, the school faced a functional challenge. The smooth running of the school was disrupted when it was illegally demolished. Soon the attendance reduced to 20 students and two teachers.

A legal suit was filed; braving all odds, V. Sundaram I.A.S of Shri Padma Sundaram Foundation legally fought against the demolishers and won the case in favour of Vidya Nivas School.

This week, an initial inspection was made on behalf of Shri Padma Sundaram Foundation. Efforts are in place to re-establish the school and to assist the school in its efforts to offer basic education.

The foundation is working towards generating funds to bolster the infrastructure of the Vidya Nivas School that is currently in a dilapidated condition. New infrastructure will not only restore the school to its former glory, but will also ensure its ability to better serve the future generations.
